VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Lifesource Food Pantry
Time Requirement: Food pantry is held every Tuesday & Thursday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. We ask that you arrive at least 15-30 minutes early to receive instructions for the pantry day.
Data Entry
Do you have customer service & basic computer skills? Each client is interviewed in order to determine their household eligibility. The East Texas Food Bank provides access to a database we use to input client data. We provide a computer station for data entry volunteers and TRAINING!
Shopping Assistant
Are you a compassionate and caring person? Our shopping assistants get to walk with our clients and help them select their grocery items with dignity. Every client is served based on their family size. You are their GUIDE to good choices and can help them with meal planning!
Grocery Bagger
Do you have a kind heart with a desire to serve? This volunteer gets to help bag up the grocery items for each family. While bagging their groceries, you can offer a few encouraging words, and make sure they can lift everything into their vehicle. They love a praying assistant!
Cart Runner
Cart runners MUST be at least 17 years of age. Clients use grocery baskets to take their groceries out to their vehicle and these carts get left outside. We need volunteers, who don’t mind running carts from the parking lot, back inside to the food pantry.
Twice but Nice Free Clothing
Our free clothing program operates Thursday thru Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm. We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes early to receive instructions for the day.
Hanging & Sorting Clothes
We always have clothing items that need to be examined, sorted and put on the appropriate hangers to ensure a quick and easy shopping process for our clients. This position is perfect for volunteers who may not feel comfortable with client interaction but still have a heart to serve. It requires attention to systems, already in place, to help with sorting and hanging clothes properly.
Customer Checkout
We serve a variety of people from all walks of life. Each person is allowed a certain number of clothing items. They are limited on some items such as pants and shoes to ensure we have enough to go around. When you serve in the clothing checkout, you always have an opportunity to love on someone or encourage them in some way! Our clients range from crisis situations to regular weekly shoppers who need clothing items and cannot afford to buy them. We always need help in this area and would love to connect with you!
Fresh Produce Distribution
We distribute fresh produce EVERY Saturday from 09:00am to 12:00pm. We ask that you arrive at 8:30-8:45am to help us to prepare for distribution.
Produce Volunteer
The East Texas Food Bank drops large quantities of fresh fruits and vegetables at the Longview Dream Center every Friday of the month. Volunteers are needed to sort and bag produce items into smaller portions. This produce is distributed to families who would not receive fresh produce otherwise.
